Kenya votes in tightest race ever

Kenyans were on edge on Thursday night as counting of votes began in the country’s presidential election after a day of long queues and technical glitches, but one free of serious strife.

In the tightest race in Kenya’s short history of multi-party democracy, President Mwai Kibaki, 76, is facing a stiff challenge from Raila Odinga, 62, the leader of the opposition Orange Democratic Movement.
