Mol, the Hungarian energy company, has confirmed that it is in advanced discussions with INA, its Croatian counterpart, over a share swap that would deepen the two companies’ existing ties and hand the Croatian government a stake in the Hungarian company.
Mol has in the past stated that it would regard state ownership as a retrograde step as part of its attempts to fight off a takeover bid from OMV, its partially state-owned Austrian rival.
