Wayne Shorter is featured in the Miles Davis quintet featured on this fascinating “recorded-from-the-desk” 3 CD and 1 DVD set – the saxophonist was soon to leave to co-found Weather Report.

The year was mid-point in the trumpeter’s evolution from acoustic swing to rocking, amplified funk, and this is reflected by each non-stop set sinuously changing pace as old faves like “Milestones” are conjoined to the new and previously unheard territory of “Bitches Brew”. As exciting and aggressive as its historical importance merits.
