Jack Russell, 44, joined Gloucestershire as a wicketkeeper when he was 17, and stayed until his retirement in 2004. He took part in 54 Test Matches and 40 One Day Internationals.

The sportsman first took up a sketchpad in 1987 in a Worcester pavilion when play was rained off. Six months later, a Bristol gallery sold 40 of his sketches within two days. Today his artistic talents are recognised worldwide. His painting ”We Will Remember Them”, commissioned by the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, hangs in the Tower of London.
