Be careful what you wish for

From Mr Stephen Saint-Leger.

Sir, Jonathan Powell’s lucid analysis of Britain’s dubious prospects outside the EU was an overdue wake-up call. He might have added that British EU sceptics are unwittingly in alliance with the French! After the Bank of France’s recent threat to strip London of its status as Europe’s main financial hub, how better to facilitate this than to leave the EU, thereby relinquishing all influence, political leverage and justification for enjoying open access to the continent? Be careful what you wish for.
