Spectre of inflation haunts investors anew

The tumbling dollar, stubbornly high oil and food prices, and a tight US labour market are keeping inflation fears firmly at the top of the agenda – particularly for bond investors, who tend to suffer the most pain from a fall in the value of money.

The US Federal Reserve this week insisted the risks of slower growth and higher inflation remained finely balanced.
