Like thousands of other British businesses, Palram Europe, a Doncaster-based plastics manufacturer, is struggling with the impact of rising energy and raw materials costs. It has two manufacturing sites in Europe and, as a significant energy user, is feeling the effects of conditions especially sharply.

“We’re getting hit from all sides. This calendar year has seen a real downturn in orders,” Alexis Lawrence, a Palram spokesperson, said.
