Michael Dell said on Thursday that Dell planned to cut more jobs than the 8,800 announced previously as part of a plan to restore sales and profit at the struggling computer maker.

News of the extra cuts came as Mr Dell and other senior executives gave an update to Wall Street analysts on the progress of Dell’s turnround effort.
