James Anderson will be chasing a place in history on Saturday as he tries to become the first English bowler in more than 50 years to take all 10 wickets in a single innings. His heroics on Friday reduced New Zealand to 96-6 in response to England’s 364 all out.

The tourists are still 268 runs behind. They are also 69 runs shy of the follow-on and light years from the moment they had their hosts on the rack at 86-5 and in a position to dictate terms themselves on day one.
