The world adjusts to an oil price heading for $90 a barrel

Only a month after breaching $80, the price for a barrel of oil is now heading towards $90 - scaling heights barely conceivable a few years ago.

While the speculative flurry that has driven the oil price higher could easily be reversed, underlying demand seems set to keep growing.
