It should be possible to unpack a new personal technology gadget and get it working quickly with minimal or no reference to the user manual. Sadly, this is still the exception.
Apple’s iPod, Research in Motion’s BlackBerry family of smartphones or the Sonos Digital Music System all stand out because of their simple user interfaces and ease of use. Significantly, all command a price premium, but it is often a price worth paying.
