Pricing pressures hit laptop makers

Until recently, people buying rice and people buying computers seemed to be living in two different worlds.

While the price of rice has rocketed and raised fears of shortages in many countries, the prices for notebook computers appeared to be moving in the opposite direction as PC makers launched low-cost models – the so-called sub-notebooks.
