Viewing figures for the BBC's catch-up TV service iPlayer leapt 27 per cent in April over the previous month, to 1.4m people.
The BBC said 43 per cent of iPlayer viewers were aged between 35 and 54, compared with 37 per cent aged 16 to 34.
