US claims negotiator snubbed in Brussels

Fresh tensions emerged in transatlantic relations on Monday with US officials suggesting that Washington’s top trade negotiator had been snubbed in Brussels.

Susan Schwab, the US trade representative, met Peter Mandelson, her EU counterpart, but expressed disappointment that Stavros Dimas, the environment commissioner, was not free to discuss a dispute on genetically modified crops.
