“Naples is falling down,” says Nathalie De Saint Phalle. Her despair is evident, but the French-born owner of Kaplan’s Project, a contemporary art gallery, is not one to stand by and watch the city collapse around her. “I was born into the art world,” she says, “but I am also a political person.”
Her response – an exhibition called Fall or Fight – is both a shout of defiance and a cry for help. The show brings together works by 34 artists to highlight how relentless negative coverage of Naples in the world’s media is slowly destroying the city.
