UK struggles in private equity markets

The UK was the worst performer of the world’s four biggest private equity markets last year, according to research published on Wednesday by Ernst & Young on the 100 biggest companies sold by buy-out firms in 2007.

The biggest private equity exits in the US, France and Germany achieved between 24 and 29 per cent average annual growth in enterprise value, significantly outperforming comparable publicly listed companies.
