Dr Seuss’s troublemaking Cat in the Hat called in an alphabet worth of helpers to fix the mess he had made. Yet all Little Cat A, Little Cat B and the others did was make things worse.

Troublemakers with initials are familiar to the credit markets. More often than not, they have come in the form of combinations of letters, from ABCP to ARS.
