Outsider wins grassroots backing

When Mike Huckabee, the Republican presidential candidate, started vying for the lead in Iowa opinion polls last month, his state campaign director was otherwise engaged.

Eric Woolson, veteran Iowa political consultant and wildlife enthusiast, spent Thanksgiving in a Costa Rican rainforest hunting giant snakes. “It’s the home of the bushmaster, the largest venomous snake in the western hemisphere,” he told the Washington Post.
