US stocks rally on hopes of rate cut

US blue chip stocks posted their biggest gain in more than four years on Wednesday as optimism about the likelihood of further interest rate capped an exhuberant two-day rally.

Donald Kohn, the Federal Reserve vice-chairman, kick-started a surge in equities after he said current uncertainty about the economic outlook required “flexible and pragmatic policy making”.
