Salmon farmers in Scotland’s Highlands and Islands are testing one of the world’s strongest fibres in a bid to bring down the number of fish that escape their nets.
Dyneema is up to 15 times stronger than steel on a weight-for-weight basis. It is also used to make bullet-resistant armour, aircraft cockpit doors and cables for mooring tankers. And now salmon farmers are pioneering its role in aquaculture.
