Standards board lures former central banker

The guardian of voluntary standards for the hedge fund industry is going international after appointing a Portuguese former central banker as its chairman and bringing in senior Singaporean and US representatives.

The Hedge Fund Standards Board, designed to head off government regulation, hopes to persuade European and Asian hedge funds to sign up to its code of practice.
