Nigeria cancels sale of steel plant

The sale of Nigeria’s biggest steel plant to an Indian company has been cancelled after an inquiry found that the privatisation process was riddled with abuses.

Umaru Yar’Adua, the president, has reversed sales of several state assets perceived to favour business allies of Olusegun Obasanjo, the previous president, since he took over a year ago.
