Genes targeted in breakthrough against drug-resistant superbugs

British scientists have developed a genetic weapon that could defeat "superbugs" such as MRSA, a growing threat to public health.

The new approach to attacking antibiotic-resistant bacteria comes from the John Innes Centre in Norwich. A spin-off company, Procarta Biosystems, has been set up to commercialise the technology.
