Argentine inflation index under fire

Argentina’s revamped inflation index was on Wednesday criticised by economists and investors after its debut report found prices rising well below consensus expectations.

Indec, the national statistics agency, on Tuesday reported a 0.6 per cent rise in prices in May compared with April, about half the market estimate.
