Sir Victor Blank, chairman of Lloyds TSB, takes the podium this Thursday at the bank’s annual meeting.

Shareholders, I am delighted to say that your bank has come through the credit crisis in excellent shape. How did we do it? The answer is a strategy that some have called “management by inertia”, although nowadays we refer to it as our “prudent business model”.
