Germany shrugs off growth worries

Germany has again defied expectations with arise in business confidence that suggests growth in Europe’s largest economy is not going to peter out any time soon.

A business climate index published by the Munich-based Ifo institute partly reversed a sharp fall in April to 102.4, rising to 103.5 in May. Companies were more upbeat about current trading and, to a lesser extent, the outlook for the next six months, Ifo said.
