BoJ governor optimistic on return of inflation

Japanese consumer prices may creep into positive territory within six months, Toshihiko Fukui, Bank of Japan governor, said on Wednesday.

Speaking after a one-day board meeting that left monetary policy unchanged, Mr Fukui said: “We can say that there is a possibility that consumer prices, excluding fresh food costs, may rise year-on-year from late this year to early next year.”
