EasyJet increased annual profit to a record level and forecast a further significant rise in the current year to next September in spite of the surge in oil prices.

The UK’s largest low-cost airline said underlying profits in the year to the end of September rose 48 per cent from £129.2m to a record £191.3m following a 56 per cent rise in the prior year.
