‘Compelling’ evidence links anthrax expert

The US Justice department said on Wednesday there was “compelling” evidence that a former government bio­weapons expert who reportedly commited suicide last week was responsible for the 2001 anthrax attacks.

Bruce Ivins, a microbiologist who worked on anthrax vaccines at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, is said to have killed himself as the Justice department prepared to file criminal charges.
