Votes have been counted from 27 countries in Europe in the largest multi-national ballot in history.

Ruling centre-right parties in France and Germany rode to victory in elections to the European parliament, but elsewhere in Europe a clutch of governments suffered a mauling at the hands of recession-hit voters.

Using the map: put your mouse over a member state for a breakdown of the results.

NOTE: Results are still provisional and some countries’ results may be subject to change. The UK results show ‘non-aligned’ for seats won by the Tories, who are not full members of the EPP itself, but its close allies in a joint group. David Cameron, Conservative leader, intends to form a new eurosceptic group.
