Green belt does not constrict land planning system

From Mr Paul Miner.

Sir, It is a shame that your editorial "The Green Noose" (October 13) appears to be seduced by tired free-market rhetoric about planning and green belt policy. Yes, of course we need to build more housing. And housebuilding levels have risen year on year since 2001 to a current level of 185,000 dwellings per year, with about 210,000 per year in draft or adopted plans for each of the next 20 years. This is hardly evidence of a planning system failing to take economic considerations into account.
