Guillaume Pepy is set to become head of SNCF after 15 years at Europe’s second biggest rail group, in the first public company reshuffle since French President Nicolas Sarkozy came to power.
Mr Pepy, SNCF chief executive, was appointed the state’s representative to the rail group’s board late on Wednesday night, a clear sign that he will be publicly named chairman when the council of ministers meets next week.
