Sir, Monika Jensen-Stevenson’s claim (Letters, January 12) that Lyndon B. Johnson was somehow unaware of the scorn and outrage directed at his failed policies suggests that she does not know the history of the anti-war movement in the US.
LBJ refused to run for re-election in 1968 because the people were in the streets protesting. And I have yet to meet anyone who can prove that “the outrage ... directed at returning veterans” was anything more than a myth.
