The prospect of an Indian bid battle for Arden Partners emerged last night after the mid-sized stockbroker was approached by three financial services companies from the subcontinent.

The preliminary approaches, the latest sign of foreign interest in gaining a foothold in the City of London, come as Arden broke off talks to be acquired by larger rival Cenkos Securities.
