Tate & Lyle chief defies calls to step down

Iain Ferguson, Tate & Lyle’s chief executive, on Wednesday rejected calls to step down despite a 42 per cent drop in pre-tax profits in the first half and a series of profit warnings.

Mr Ferguson has been under pressure after declining profits and the way in which the company communicates information to the market.
