The telecommunications watchdog will remove strict controls on how BT sells wholesale broadband services in about 70 per cent of the market, after finding the group faced strong competition in many urban areas.
The telecoms operator has faced restrictions on how it sells access to its broadband internet network to its rivals. Ofcom has required BT to guarantee access to the network for other operators, and to keep fees low so it does not gain an unfair advantage in the market.
