2. Four Seasons George V

Recently modernized to great effect, all the rooms have been upgraded, while retaining certain features like the panelled Bar Anglais. Fresh flowers fill the reception and the revamped restaurant, Le Cinq, has become one of "the" places to eat.

5. Meurice

The sumptuous antique decor of the Meurice may not be original, but you would never know it. The fading hotel has been completely restored rather than just refurbished, creating spacious guest rooms and state-of-the-art facilities, while retaining a traditional feel. And the location could not be better.
